First, let me start with the the yajur veda, the thaithreeya samhitha.
“VignAnam BrahmE divyajAnAth. VignanAth Eva kalbimAni bhUthAni jAyanthE !!VignAnEna jAthAni JIvanthi.”
. [Thaithreeya upanishad-Bhrughu valli-Mantra 5 ]
vignanam is science.(mind is also another meaning, it is science here though some ppl consider it as mind also)
The veda explains that science is the absolute god.Everything is created because of science.every living being lives because of science.
With this beautiful verse on science, let us begin our next discussion.
Let us move onto Gravity. As i told you earlier they did know much about gravity thousands of years before newton.
According to Dr.Dean Brown’s research sanskrit paved way for many western languages including english. The words of english were exaclty similar to those of ICELANDIC,which inturn is similar to Sanskrit words.
Why i say this you will know after we discuss the following sutra of KANADA MAHARISHI.
SAMYOGA ABHAAVE GRURUTHVAATH PATHANAM [VAISHESHIKA SUTHRA 5.1.7]
SAMYOGA – CONJUNCTION (here it is to be interpreted external force )
ABHAAVE – Not existing
PATHANAM – Falls
GRURUTHVAATH – GRAVITY !!
“When there is no external force, the body is falling due to gravity”
Now see the striking similarity between the words gravity in english and gruruthvath in sanskrit !!!!
NODANA VISHESHABHAAVATH NA OORDHVAM NA THRAYYAG GAMANAM [VAISHESHIKA SUTRA 5.1.8]
NODANA – impetus
VISHESHA ABHAVAATH – Absebce
NA- NOT
OORDHVAM – Upwards
THRAYYAG – obliquely (horizontally)
GAMANAM – Goes
” In the absence of an external force (impulse is mentioned, we know impulse on a longer note is force) nor does the body move upwards or horizontally.”
There are many more sutras relating to gravity, which also include why birds dont fall but fruits do (same example of fruit taken..Coincidence of apple ?! ).But these need some more detailed analyses, it is tough to interpret the sanskrit.I will write when i am done with them.
Now we shall see the three states of matter and the nature of the same and the reason for it.
In chapter 2 KANADA explains by three sutras that air is a substance as it exists and is not mystical or anything of that sort.He gives reasons for why it is a substance also. These are three in number and are basics so i am not discussing here, if any one wants, drop in a comment.
VAYORVAYUSAMMOORCHANAM NANATHVALINGANAM [VAISHESHIKA SUTHRA 2.1.14]
VAYU – AIR
MOORCHANAM – COLLISION NANATHVA LINGANAM – PLURALITY
Put together, this means :
The nature of physical changes in matter is the terms of work being done on the basic particles that constitute matter.
GASEOUS STATE :
ANEKA DRAVYA SAMAVAYAATH ROOPA VISHESHACHCHA RUPOPAPALABDHI [ VAISHESHIKA SUTHRA 4.1.8]
ANEKA – MANY ; DRAVYA-substances ; SAMAVAYAATH- COLLISION ; RUPA – Form
The particular nature of air is suggested by the mixing of gases that occurs on their collision.
despite of being made of atoms and occupying space air fails show orderly movement so its form cannot be perceived.
SOLID STATE :
MAHATHYANEKADRAVYAVAKTHVAATH ROOPASCHOPALABDHA: [ VAISHESHIKA SUTRA 4.1.6]
(word by word meaning same as above sutra)
Solids occupy space and assume form due to conglomeration of the constituent particles
LIQUID STATE :
APAAM SAMYOGABHAAVE GRURUTHVAATH PATHANAM [VAISHESHIKA SUTRA 5.2.3]
Water too falls if there is no external force, but this is also due to gravity.
DRAVATHVAATH SYANDANAM
DRAVATHVAM – Liquidity (fluidity) SYANDANAM – FLOWS
But it flows due to the property of liquidity.
NAADYA: VAYUSAMYOGA: AROHANAM
NADYA: – HEAT ; VAYU- AIR AROHANAM -ASCENTS
Water when heated ascends as Gas
APAAM SANGAATHO VILAYANASCHA THEJAAM SAMYOGAM [VAISHESHIKA SUTHRA 5.2.8 ]
Freezing and melting of a liquid as being a result of heat being taken up or given up by its particles.
Thus to summarise the the properties of liwuids as per kanada ,
The (fluid’s) particles possess energy. This causes them to possess the property of fluidity. The heat bearing rays provide the particles with energy to form a gas and rise. The heated particles of air impact the vapor and with this energy it mixes with it. Freezing and melting of a liquid as being a result of heat being taken up or given up by its particles.
With this i conclude this note. Next note we will move onto other aspects of physics that include the nature of chemical reactions and molecular movements and constituents of a body and how a chemical reaction affects them.
Thanks for reading !! Do comment !! 🙂 See you in the next note !! until then…here is sumthing to sing along…
“mruth api cha chandanam asmin deshe !!
gramo grama: sidhdha vanam !!
